Observation task 4:Planning and preparing for learning

How do you plan? Do you plan weekly, daily, as part of a team or individually?

The school’s  planning time occurs weekly, once every Wednesday. The co-teachers should sit together to  plan for ahead week within  the activities

Do you do anything you haven’t planned to do?

Yes, sometimes we can’t cover all the things that we planned  in our weekly lesson plans. One of the examples of that was,  when we had ‘Abu Dhabi Reads’, we planned something  and we couldn’t  not go through our plans  because of disorganized  stuff that was going on in school. Many teachers came up with  something different and they did not involve other teachers to be part of that plan. They invited schools and other teacher invite other schools in the same day! We realized that either the day before or in the same day.

What is important to you when planning a lesson?

They are some components that we have to think about.e.g. the outcomes should match the chosen activities. Each activity should provide three different levels: Master Students (MS), Development Students (DS), and Emergent Students (ES).  We should also think of the next steps for those different levels.  For Mastery students (MS) teachers should provide some challenging tasks for them, MS teachers should provide them tasks  to move  them to the next level in this case MS,  and ES teachers should provide them tasks  to move these students to the next level in this case DE and the same thing with ES students. We should also implement strategies that enhance 21th Century skills in the plan.

Do you plan to do the same thing with all the children in the classroom? ( why/why not)

No, we focus more on the components that I mentioned in the previous question.
